Accu-Trade initially approached NextLink Labs to provide software development engineering services for their digital marketplace. This platform provides dealerships in the United States and Canada with the ability to buy and sell cars, trucks, vans, and other types of transportation.

The Challenge

As Accu-Trade’s services achieved significant traction, the company’s team and product offering began to grow at a rapid rate. This growth brought about several critical hurdles:

1. DevOps as a Service: A Framework for Success

We built upon Accu-Trade’s existing framework to mature their DevOps practice. Our focus was on increasing service stability, shortening development cycles, and guiding the evolution of security and compliance needs. This allowed Accu-Trade to meet the growing needs of its customers through scalable and secure technology offerings.

2. Marketplace & Data Aggregation

The Accu-Trade Marketplace relies on displaying hundreds of variables (year, make, model, history, etc.) instantly. We built the technology to aggregate this data from multiple sources and presented it through a robust Python/Django backend, exposing it via APIs for use across their entire product suite.

3. Real-Time "VIN-dow" Auction Tool

To give buyers a competitive edge, we helped build VIN-dow, a browser extension that sits directly in the auction window. It syncs with live bidding, processes VINs, and displays vital information—like target auction prices and common vehicle problems—on the fly without copying and pasting.

4. Embedded Communication & User Management

We architected a real-time chat application using the Twilio API to allow communication between different user groups. Additionally, we implemented a comprehensive User Management System, enabling dealers to manage employee permissions and access levels seamlessly.

Implementation Timeline

Phase 1: Emergency Team Augmentation (2017)

Integrated with the internal team to address immediate UX/UI needs and feature backlogs for the digital marketplace.

Phase 2: Strategic DevOps Audit & Roadmap

Conducted a deep dive into the infrastructure, identifying bottlenecks in the deployment pipeline and creating a digital transformation roadmap.

Phase 4: Maturity & Leadership Transition

NextLink Labs transitioned into a consultative leadership role, providing ongoing staffing guidance, technology suggestions, and overall DevOps direction.
